People in Ithaca love squirrels. They feed them on their porches, they love watching them climb the trees and run around in the bushes but also when they have races on the powerlines. So in a next step the undergrad inhabitants of "Collegetown" wanted to provide a new living environment for the beloved animals it seems. They put up a bunch of shoes on the powerlines, even the size was carefully selected, siz 12, to fit the average Ithaca squirrel.
